SEN Teaching Assistant – Mainstream Primary 
Milk Education | St Helens (On-site)

Milk Education is recruiting for a highly respected mainstream primary in the St Helens area. The setting (SEN Base) supports pupils with a range of complex needs, including Autism (ASD), communication difficulties, sensory processing differences, and physical or medical requirements. The environment is structured, nurturing, and supported by a strong multidisciplinary team who tailor learning and care to each child.

We’re looking for a committed, resilient SEN Teaching Assistant who’s comfortable in a hands-on, fast-moving environment. This role is offered on a day-to-day, term-time basis, with the potential to become long-term or permanent for the right person.

What You’ll Be Doing

Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with complex SEN

Using visual communication systems such as PECS, Makaton, and visual timetables

Supporting sensory regulation through structured breaks and personalised sensory tools

Assisting with personal care, mobility, or medical routines when required

Delivering adapted learning in communication, social skills, literacy, numeracy, and life skills

Using positive behaviour support strategies to help pupils manage anxiety and transitions

Working closely with teachers and therapists to follow structured programmes

Maintaining strong safeguarding practice and professionalism at all times
