We are actively recruiting for dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team at Vision for Education in Monmouth, supporting children within a primary school classroom environment aged 3–11.
The role will involve supporting primary-aged pupils with a wide range of additional learning needs (ALN), as well as those who may display challenging behaviour. This 3–11 special needs primary school is seeking support staff to work on a 1:1 and small group basis, giving you a genuine opportunity to make a lasting positive impact on pupils’ early development and education.
The role
The role is based in Monmouth
The position is within a 3–11 primary special needs school supporting pupils with ALN
As part of the Teaching Assistant role, you will support pupils in the classroom to meet daily learning and developmental objectives
You will be responsible for building strong, nurturing relationships with pupils and acting as a positive role model
The role will require you to identify triggers and de-escalate behaviours before they arise
Work on a 1:1 and small group basis to support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development
Follow the direction of the class teacher and SENCO, assisting where needed
Utilise your existing skills and experience to provide the best possible learning experience
Think creatively and contribute ideas to help further improve teaching and learning
The ideal candidate will:
Ideally hold a Level 2 or 3 qualification in Childcare, Health & Social Care or a related subject (not essential)
Have strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
Have experience in SEN / ALN (personal or professional), ideally with primary-aged children
Be open to additional training such as Team Teach or Manual Handling
Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrate a genuine passion for helping and supporting young children
