Teaching Assistant
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Chippenham. This Teaching Assistant role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and is committed to helping them thrive both academically and emotionally.
The Role – Teaching Assistant
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play an important part in supporting pupils aged 4–19 across the school. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Offering 1:1 Teaching Assistant support as well as small-group assistance to help pupils access learning.
Working with students who have a variety of needs including ASD, communication difficulties, sensory needs, PMLD, mobility challenges, and developmental delays.
Creating a calm, safe and encouraging space where children can learn at a pace suited to their individual needs.
Assisting with personal care, feeding, and moving & handling where required (full guidance and support can be provided).
Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff and families as part of your Teaching Assistant duties.
Working closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff to deliver consistent and personalised support.
Using visual resources, communication systems or tools such as Makaton to help students communicate and understand routines.

Requirements for the Teaching Assistant Role
To be considered for this Teaching Assistant position, you should:
Be patient, adaptable and calm under pressure.
Have some form of experience supporting children or young people (professional or personal).
Be comfortable supporting pupils with a range of complex and additional needs, including personal care.
Be a strong communicator and a reliable team player.
Ideally hold a DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one.
Be willing to undertake training and continue developing as a Teaching Assistant.
Salary
£88.92 – £100.00 per day, depending on experience and qualifications.
