Level 2 Teaching Assistant - SEN School | Irthlingborough | Via Tradewind Recruitment

Are you an experienced and compassionate Level 2 Teaching Assistant looking for your next rewarding role? Tradewind Recruitment is working closely with a specialist SEN school in Irthlingborough, seeking committed support staff to join their dedicated team.

This welcoming and well-resourced school supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition), SLCN (Speech, Language and Communication Needs), SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), and physical disabilities, across a broad spectrum of learning abilities from MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties) to PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties). Key Responsibilities:

Provide high-quality 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual pupil needs
Support communication using methods such as PECS, Makaton, BSL, and AAC
Assist with personal care, ensuring dignity and wellbeing at all times
Support pupils in swimming sessions and physical development activities
Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff
Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation

Requirements:

Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, particularly across MLD-PMLD
Knowledge of alternative communication methods (PECS, Makaton, BSL, AAC)
Understanding of supporting pupils with SEMH needs and behaviour management strategies
Comfortable supporting personal care and physical activities
A calm, patient, and resilient approach
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
