A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Cheltenham is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a nurturing mainstream environment, providing targeted 1:1 support to pupils who require additional help to thrive in the classroom.

About the Role - SEN Teaching Assistant - Cheltenham

You will be supporting two pupils on a 1:1 basis - one in Year 2 and one in Year 4 - both of whom require additional support with their special educational needs. The role focuses on building strong, trusting relationships, supporting engagement with learning, and promoting emotional regulation and confidence.

Key responsibilities include:

Providing 1:1 support to pupils in Year 2 and Year 4
Adapting learning activities to meet individual needs
Supporting emotional regulation and classroom engagement
Encouraging communication, confidence, and independence
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO
Creating a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environmentThe Ideal Candidate:

Empathetic, patient, and resilient
Passionate about SEN, inclusion, and child development
A strong communicator with the ability to build rapport quickly
Experience supporting children with SEN (desirable but not essential)
Background in Education, Psychology, Care, or similar (beneficial)Candidates with experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or those from care, youth work, or support work backgrounds are highly encouraged to apply. Experience working with children with additional needs in a primary setting is advantageous but not essential.
