SEN Teaching Assistants – Secondary (SEMH & Challenging Behaviour)

We are currently recruiting experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to support students within a secondary specialist provision in LIverpool.
This role is ideal for individuals who are confident working with challenging behaviour and have a strong understanding of SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs
Support pupils displaying challenging behaviours, using de-escalation techniques
Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to deliver tailored interventions
Help create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional regulation strategies
About You
To be considered for this role, you must:
Have previous experience working in a secondary school, PRU, or SEN setting
Be confident supporting students with challenging behaviour and SEMH conditions
Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills
Be resilient, patient, and able to remain calm under pressure
Have a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
Be able to build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff
Desirable (but not essential)
Team Teach or other de-escalation training
Experience within alternative provisions or PRUs
Background in youth work, care, or pastoral roles

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
