About the Role
Long Term Futures are working with a welcoming primary school in Westminster to recruit a SEN Teaching Assistant for an immediate start.
This is a varied role combining general classroom responsibilities with targeted SEN support. You will work alongside the class teacher to support learning across the classroom while also providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs.
The position would suit someone who enjoys the variety of a general Teaching Assistant role but also has the confidence and experience to provide more individualised support when required.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting teaching and learning within the classroom
Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
Delivering targeted literacy, numeracy and communication interventions
Supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs or learning difficulties
Encouraging independence, confidence and positive engagement
Supporting behaviour and emotional regulation where required
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor pupil progress
Preparing resources and assisting with general classroom activitiesThe Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for someone who:
Has experience working with primary-aged children
Has experience or a strong interest in supporting pupils with SEN
Is confident working both 1:1 and with larger groups
Is proactive and able to identify where support is needed
Has strong communication and teamwork skills
Is reliable, patient and enthusiasticApplications are also welcomed from graduates in psychology, education, speech and language, childcare or other relevant fields looking to develop their school-based experience.
