Role: Teaching Assistant School Type: New Specialist SEN/SEMH School Area: Leicester Contract: Fulltime, Permanent Start: September 2025 Start A highly reputable and rapidly growing specialist school group is seeking passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join the team at their brand-new school opening in Leicester in September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking educational setting that is committed to transforming the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a permanent role offering a negotiable salary dependent on experience. About the School: The new provision in Leicester is the latest addition to a well-established group of specialist schools recognised for their child-centred ethos, therapeutic approach, and commitment to excellence in SEN and SEMH education. The school will cater for a small number of pupils in a nurturing, inclusive, and structured environment where every child is valued and supported to reach their full potential. Role Responsibilities: Work under the guidance of teaching staff to support pupils’ learning and well-being. Assist in the implementation of individual education and behaviour plans. Provide one-to-one or small group support tailored to pupils’ specific needs. Help create a safe, stimulating, and supportive learning environment. Support pupils with daily routines and transitions throughout the school day. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to support holistic development. Promote positive behaviour and model appropriate emotional regulation strategies. Requirements: Experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH (in school or alternative settings) is highly desirable. A calm, patient, and empathetic approach. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and staff. Resilience and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment. A relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification (e.g., Teaching Assistant, Childcare, Health & Social Care) is beneficial but not essential. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
