Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a passion for 1:1 support?
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Coundon, Coventry is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and speech and language needs. Starting in September, this full-time role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact through tailored, 1:1 support.
About the Role:
You will be working closely with a Year 2 pupil, supporting their academic and emotional development through effective SEN strategies. This includes delivering learning content using alternative communication methods and creating a supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 support to a Year 2 child with ASD.
Use strategies such as Makaton, PECS, and storytelling to support communication and learning.
Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to plan and deliver personalised interventions.
Track and report progress towards individual targets.
Create a positive, engaging, and inclusive environment for the pupil.Candidate Requirements:
Experience supporting children with Autism in a school setting.
Knowledge and experience using Makaton, PECS, and other non-verbal communication tools.
Understanding of speech and language needs in primary-aged children.
A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2/3) or equivalent experience.
