Academics are currently recruiting for a caring, proactive, and emotionally intelligent SEN Teaching Assistant to join a forward-thinking and inclusive school in Stevenage. This setting supports children and young people with a wide range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, and behavioural challenges.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Psychology or Criminology graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in a role where theory meets practice. Whether your long-term goal is to pursue a career in educational psychology, mental health, youth justice, or teaching, this role offers the foundational experience you need within the education and training sector.
Your Role Will Include:
Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups with learning, emotional development, and social engagement
Applying your academic understanding of behaviour, trauma, and developmental psychology in a real-world setting
Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to maintain a calm, structured, and nurturing classroom
Building positive relationships, setting clear boundaries, and acting as a reliable and consistent role model
We're Looking For:
Graduates in Psychology, Criminology, or a related field
Individuals who are calm, empathetic, and emotionally resilient
A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with SEN or mental health needs
Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals (preferred but not essential)
