SEMH Teaching Assistant Vacancy Location – Bristol and Bath Start Date – September Full-Time Opportunities Available £89 - £100 per day Teaching Personnel is seeking enthusiastic and committed teaching assistants to join our team in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. These can include—but are not limited to—anxiety, depression, challenging or antisocial behaviour, non-cooperation, frustration, anger, verbal or physical aggression, and difficulties with social interaction. In this role, patience, understanding, and empathy are essential. You will be working with children aged 5 to 16, playing a vital part in their educational and emotional development. Role Overview Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm (may vary slightly by school) Start: September 2025, continuing through the academic year Schedule: Monday to Friday, term-time only (flexible: 3 to 5 days a week) Potential for permanent contract for the right candidate Key Responsibilities: Support class teachers in delivering the school's tailored curriculum, working with students one-to-one or in small groups. Collaborate with fellow teaching assistants to provide bespoke support in small classes (typically 8–10 students). Contribute to a positive and supportive classroom environment. Build trusting relationships with pupils to help them feel safe, welcomed, and motivated to succeed. Work professionally with colleagues both in your classroom and across the school. Who We’re Looking For: Someone passionate about supporting children in an educational setting—whether you're starting your career or continuing it. Strong behaviour management and communication skills. No prior experience required—your enthusiasm and commitment matter most. Experience with SEMH or challenging behaviour is desirable, whether through work or personal life, but not essential. Why Work with Teaching Personnel?
