Supply Desk is currently seeking a nurturing and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Hemel Hempstead. This is a full-time position starting in September, working with pupils who have a range of special educational needs (SEN), including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, and speech and language difficulties.

Job Description:
• Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEN, helping them access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
• Assist in the development and delivery of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets, in collaboration with the SENCO and class teacher.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, social development, and communication needs, using positive behaviour strategies and intervention tools.
• Work collaboratively with the teaching staff to adapt lessons and activities to meet diverse learning needs.
• Promote independence, confidence, and inclusion across all areas of learning and school life.
• Assist in monitoring and recording student progress, and provide feedback to the teaching team and parents.
• Help maintain a safe, engaging, and nurturing classroom environment tailored to pupils with additional needs.
• Support with personal care when required, depending on individual pupil needs.
Our ideal candidate will:
• Have experience working with children with special educational needs in a school or similar setting (experience with autism, SEMH, or speech & language needs is especially desirable).
• Be patient, empathetic, and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting children with SEN.
• Possess a strong understanding of SEN strategies and how to apply them effectively in a classroom setting.
• Have excellent communication skills and be confident working with teaching staff, parents, and outside agencies.
• Be reliable, flexible, and ready to adapt to the changing needs of students and the school.
• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children.
• Hold or be willing to obtain a clear enhanced DBS check.
• Have relevant training or be open to completing training in areas such as autism awareness, Team Teach, safeguarding, and first aid.
