SEN Teaching Assistant Contract Type: Full Time, Temporary Start Date: Immediate Location: Islington Salary: £100-£110 Hours of Work: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM (Term Time Only) Are you a resilient, compassionate, and experienced teaching assistant with a passion for helping children with Special Educational Needs thrive? Teach Now is working with an outstanding, inclusive primary school located in the heart of Finsbury Park, Islington, known for its nurturing ethos, high expectations, and exceptional leadership team. We are looking for a dynamic SEN teaching assistant to join their Key Stage 2 team immediately. The Role: In this role, you will be working closely with a KS2 pupil (or small group) displaying demand avoidance and challenging behaviours. Your role will be key to helping them engage with learning, build trust, and make positive progress both emotionally and academically. Your duties will include: • Providing tailored 1:1 and group support to pupils with SEN • Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and behaviour management • Implementing individualised strategies to support emotional regulation and learning • Collaborating with the SENCO, external agencies, and parents/carers • Encouraging independence, confidence, and resilience in every learner The Ideal Candidate: • Proven experience supporting children with demand avoidance, SEMH, or behavioural challenges • Familiar with Key Stage 2 curriculum and intervention techniques • Calm, patient, and consistent with a nurturing approach • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team • Holds an Enhanced DBS (or willing to apply) • Available for an immediate trial This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing school that values its support staff and invests in their development.
