To work under the direction of the class teacher and senior staff to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in accessing a broad and balanced curriculum. The SEN Teaching Assistant will play a vital role in helping pupils develop both educationally and socially, working 1:1 or with small groups, and supporting behaviour, communication, and physical needs as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
Support the learning and emotional wellbeing of pupils with SEN on a 1:1 or small group basis.
Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of activities and interventions that meet individual needs.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals.
Promote positive behaviour and help manage challenging behaviour in line with school policies.
Support the development of pupils' communication and interaction skills.
Help maintain detailed and accurate records of pupil progress and behaviour.
Support pupils with personal care and hygiene needs, where required.
Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all pupils.
Attend training sessions and team meetings as required.
Person Specification
Essential:
Experience working with children or young people with SEN.
A nurturing, patient, and flexible approach.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work well as part of a team.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
