SEN Teaching Assistant
* Location: Birmingham (Saltley)
* Start Date: September 2025
* Salary: £90-£105 per day (depending on experience)
* Contract: Temporary, ongoing
* Hours: Full-Time (8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Wednesday)
Empowering Learning is currently seeking a skilled SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). As a SEN Teaching Assistant you wil work closely with specialist teachers, therapists and external agencies to craft bespoke learning experiences for children aged 4-11 who present a range of needs-including Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language difficulties and Social, Emotional & Mental Health challenges. Your creativity will turn strategies and EHCP targets into sensory‑rich, curiosity‑driven activities that help each child shine academically, socially and emotionally.
This SEN Teaching Assistant role is based in a warm and inclusive mainstream primary school located in Birmingham (Saltley) in a resource base, offering a supportive team environment and a strong focus on individual pupil development.
Key Responsibilities as a SEN Teaching Assistant:
Provide dynamic 1:1 and small‑group interventions that ignite engagement and progress.
Adapt lessons and resources so every pupil can access the curriculum and celebrate success.
Track, record and report on pupil outcomes, contributing to annual reviews and target setting.
Collaborate daily with teachers, SENDCo, families and outside professionals.
Champion a safe, inclusive classroom culture that nurtures confidence and independence.
Support personal‑care routines with dignity and respect when required.Working as an SEN Teaching Assistant in our client's school you will have:
Prior experience supporting children with SEN in a school or care setting
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A minimum of a Level 2 qualification
Level 1 Safeguarding qualification
A patient, nurturing, and adaptable attitude
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
