A vibrant and inclusive SEN school in Lewisham is looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join its dedicated and supportive team. Our school supports children and young people with a range of complex needs, including ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health), ADHD, speech and language needs, and learning difficulties. Pupils range from primary to secondary age. Your Role Will Include – SEN Teaching Assistant * Supporting pupils with special educational needs on a 1:1 basis and in small group settings * Assisting teachers in delivering tailored lessons and activities to meet individual needs * Promoting pupil independence, emotional well-being, and engagement in learning * Using structured communication systems such as PECS, Makaton, and visual schedules * Supporting pupils with behaviour regulation and implementing strategies effectively * Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and the wider school community We Are Looking For Someone Who – SEN Teaching Assistant * Has experience working with children or young people with SEN (school-based or other relevant settings) * Is calm, reliable, empathetic, and positive in challenging situations * Understands the importance of patience, flexibility, and consistency * Has strong communication and interpersonal skills * Is eager to learn and develop professionally within a specialist setting * Ideally has training in areas such as Autism, Team Teach, Makaton, or safeguarding (desirable, not essential) If this SEN Teaching Assistant role sounds like the job for you get in touch with the Education Team at Educo for further information
