Purpose of the role:
Working on a 1:1 basis with a child who has profound and multiple complex needs.
Ensuring the child can access his learning and communicate his needs
Ensure the child is comfortable and positioned to maximise engagement in the classroom
Facilitate access to play and socialising with his peers during break times
Support the child on school trips
Key Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with the school staff and therapy team
Support therapy sessions with the Physio, OT and SALT
Utilise the Eye Gaze Device and other communication resources consistently during the morning
Document the learning support provided and goals achieved, with therapy guidance
Support all aspects of the child’s ongoing rehabilitation as agreed by the school, therapists and family.
Attend any specific on-site training with the therapy team
Key Skills
Effective communication with the school staff, family, Case Manager and Agency
Willingness to learn and ability to undertake child specific relevant training if required
Basic IT skills for recording daily school notes
Demonstrate an understanding of brain injury and complex needs
