We are currently seeking a committed and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a leading Specialist College in Stratford. This full-time role begins in September and offers excellent career progression within a post-16 education setting for students with Autism and complex SEN needs.
The college operates Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, and supports young adults with a range of additional needs, focusing particularly on Autism, communication challenges, and learning difficulties. We are looking for individuals who have either personal or professional experience working with students with SEN, particularly Autism, and who are confident in supporting students aged 16 and over.
This is an ideal role for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant who is passionate about inclusive education and who thrives in a structured, nurturing environment. The college has a strong team ethos and provides robust support and training for all staff. Applicants must have prior experience with SEND, Autism, and behaviour management strategies.

Daily Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 support for students aged 16–25 with Autism and additional SEN in classroom, vocational, and community settings
*
Assist with delivering bespoke education programmes designed to support life skills, independence, and employability
*
Work closely with tutors, therapists, and other SEN Teaching Assistants to meet each student's individual learning and behavioural needs
*
Implement and review Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) under guidance from senior staff
*
Support with sensory regulation and use of specialist tools and strategies tailored to students with Autism
*
Assist in managing challenging behaviour using consistent and proactive behaviour management approaches
*
Encourage communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation throughout all learning and social activities
*
Help students access community-based learning opportunities safely and effectively
*
Monitor student progress and behaviour, maintaining accurate daily logs and contributing to team meetings
*
Support students with personal care needs where necessary, always respecting dignity and promoting independence
*
Adapt learning resources and classroom layouts to reflect student needs and promote engagement
*
Work collaboratively with the wider college team to uphold safeguarding and health & safety standards
*
Foster a positive and inclusive environment that aligns with the values and aims of the Specialist College
*
Participate in regular training provided by the Specialist College, with opportunities for further development from September onwards
