ABC Teachers is seeking experienced Teaching Assistants to support children and young people with autism and trauma-related needs to work in a Secondary school setting in Coventry on a full-time basis starting in September. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a nurturing, specialist setting where you will play a vital role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and re-engage with education.   About the role: Provide tailored classroom support to pupils with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and those with trauma-related emotional and behavioural needs Work closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to deliver personalised learning and intervention programmes Promote emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and social development through consistent, trauma-informed strategies, building trusting relationships with pupils to foster confidence, self-esteem, and engagement. Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom organisation Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to the wider team Support pupils during unstructured times, such as lunch and break, ensuring a safe and positive environment. About you: To be considered for the Teaching Assistant position, you will: Have previous experience working with children and young people with Autism, and trauma related needs. Suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential. Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students Calm, empathetic, and adaptable approach A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
