We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in St Helens supporting children with Learning Disabilities (LD) and Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support for students with these specific needs, ensuring they have the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally in a supportive and inclusive environment. Key Responsibilities: Assist the class teacher in delivering a differentiated curriculum to students with Learning Disabilities (LD) and Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), acting as a Teaching Assistant in one-on-one and small group support. Support children with LD and EBD in developing social and communication skills, promoting inclusion and positive peer relationships. Assist in monitoring progress and providing feedback to the class teacher on how interventions are impacting student learning and behaviour as a Teaching Assistant.Essential Criteria: Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant with children who have Learning Disabilities (LD) and Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). A relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent). A patient, empathetic approach to working with children who require additional support, with a genuine passion for their learning and wellbeing as a Teaching Assistant.Desirable: Experience using specific strategies for managing behaviour, such as Restorative Practices or Positive Behaviour Support (PBS). Knowledge of interventions for Learning Disabilities (LD), including assistive technology or differentiated teaching methods. Familiarity with supporting students with EBD in managing their emotions and behaviours in both classroom and social settings. Experience working with a multidisciplinary team, including SENCOs and external professionals, to support children with additional needs.
