SEN Teaching Assistant – Speech and Language Support
📍 Location: Merton
📅 Start Date: September 2025
🕒 Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? Do you have an interest in speech, language, and communication development? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school community in the borough of Merton.
This school specialises in speech and language support, working with pupils who require additional help to develop communication, confidence, and independence in their learning. Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN).
Work closely with class teachers, speech and language therapists, and other professionals to implement individual learning and therapy plans.
Support pupils’ social and emotional development, promoting inclusion and positive behaviour.
Assist with classroom activities, adapting resources to meet individual needs.
Encourage pupils’ independence and celebrate their progress.The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with children with SEN, ideally with a focus on speech and language needs (desirable but not essential).
A positive, patient, and proactive approach to supporting children.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
A willingness to learn and follow strategies provided by teaching staff and therapists.
