Job Description

We’re seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a nurturing, individualised learning environment. You’ll play a vital role in helping students develop life skills, emotional resilience, and academic confidence—enabling every child to learn, grow, and thrive. About the Role * Provide daily one‑to‑one or small‑group support for students with SEMH needs as outlined in their EHCPs * Assist in delivering personalised learning, adapting the curriculum to suit individual strengths, interests, and emotional needs * Implement targeted academic and pastoral interventions using a trauma‑informed, nurture‑based approach * Support students in developing emotional regulation, communication, resilience, and independence * Work closely with teachers and specialist staff to co‑create learning plans and track progress * Build positive, trusting relationships with students to support engagement and motivation * Contribute to a high staff‑to‑student ratio environment to ensure close, responsive support * Liaise with external professionals when needed to support holistic student development About the School * A small, specialist secondary school for students aged 11–16 with SEMH needs and EHCPs, located in Camden * Follows a trauma-informed, restorative, and nurturing approach to education * Offers a flexible, creative curriculum combining core subjects with life skills and therapeutic support * Maintains small classes and a high staff‑to‑student ratio to ensure individualised attention * Strong focus on oracy, literacy, numeracy, digital awareness, and real-world readiness * Prioritises positive relationships, wellbeing, and emotional safety as the foundation for learning * Supported by a wider federation of inclusive schools, promoting collaboration and innovation across settings * Committed to fostering independence, resilience, and personal growth in every young person Zest Education are an APSCo audited agency and are dedicated to safeguarding children. All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work. Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
