The Role – SEN Teaching Assistant
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for students with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning needs.
* Work closely with the SENCo and teaching staff to deliver EHCP targets effectively.
* Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
* Support behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
* Assist students both in and outside the classroom to help them access the curriculum.
* Monitor and track student progress, sharing feedback with staff and parents where appropriate.
Requirements – SEN Teaching Assistant
* At least 1 year of experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school.
* Background in supporting students with SEN (ASD, SEMH, ADHD, etc.).
* Strong communication skills and a supportive, empathetic approach.
* Resilient, calm, and adaptable under pressure.
* A genuine enthusiasm for helping students with additional needs succeed.
* Additional training (e.g., Team Teach, Safeguarding, SEND CPD) is highly desirable.
