Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School (Redbridge) Company: Remedy Recruitment Location: Redbridge, London Job Type: Full-time / Long-term contract / Part time work Start Date: Immediate / ASAP About the Role Remedy Recruitment is seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Redbridge. This role is ideal for someone who has experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and is eager to make a real difference in pupils' learning and development. You will be working closely with class teachers and the school's SENCO to provide tailored support to pupils with a variety of needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and behavioural challenges. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 support for pupils with SEN, ensuring they can access the curriculum and engage fully in lessons. Work with small groups of children to reinforce learning and support differentiated activities. Assist the class teacher in creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment. Implement strategies recommended by the SENCO and external professionals (e.g., speech and language therapists, educational psychologists). Support pupils with emotional regulation, social interaction, and behavioural management, using positive behaviour strategies. Help prepare and adapt classroom materials to meet the needs of individual learners. Monitor and record pupils' progress, feeding back to teachers and parents when necessary. Encourage independence, resilience, and confidence in all pupils. Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities, such as playtimes, trips, or group interventions. Requirements Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or SEN Teaching Assistant in a school setting. Understanding of supporting children with SEN, particularly Autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, pupils, and parents. Ability to remain patient, empathetic, and calm under pressure. A genuine passion for supporting children's education and wellbeing. Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures. Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ in Supporting Teaching & Learning, Psychology or SEN-related degree) are desirable but not essential.
