Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only
Hours: 8.30am – 3.30pm
Smart Education is seeking three experienced Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming Catholic Primary School in Oldbury from September 2025.
This full-time role will involve working 1:1 with a Reception pupil who has an EHCP in place and may present with challenging behaviour. The successful candidate will have at least two years’ experience supporting young children with additional needs, alongside a patient, resilient, and nurturing approach.
Experience with alternative communication methods such as PECS or Makaton would be highly desirable. A strong background in supporting children with challenging behaviour and using de-escalation techniques is essential.
You will work closely with the SENDCo and Class Teacher to provide tailored support, helping the pupil make progress both academically and socially.
Requirements:
Minimum Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
Valid Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to obtain one)
At least 2 years’ experience supporting SEN pupils within a school setting
Ability to adapt learning and provide tailored support to meet individual needs
Confident in leading small group and 1:1 sessions both in and out of the classroom
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Skilled in encouraging positive behaviour, emotional well-being, and inclusion
