Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant – Mainstream Secondary School Location: Bristol Start Date: Immediate Salary: £95 - £110 per day Are you passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a mainstream secondary school setting? Do you have experience working 1:1 or in small groups to help students access the curriculum and thrive in school? Are you looking for a long-term role where you can make a real difference within a supportive and inclusive environment? TeacherActive is partnering with a well-regarded mainstream secondary school in Bristol to recruit a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant. In this role, you will provide tailored support to students with a range of additional needs, helping them engage with learning and develop independence in the classroom. This is a long-term opportunity with excellent potential for extension or permanent placement. You will work closely with teaching staff, SENDCo, and pastoral teams to implement individual support plans for students with needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), SEMH, and other SEND. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEND to help them access the curriculum Support students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs in line with their individual education plans Promote independence, confidence, and resilience in learners Assist with adapting resources and activities to suit individual learning styles Collaborate with teachers and SEND teams to monitor progress and adjust support as needed Maintain clear records and contribute to review meetings The ideal candidate will have: Experience supporting children or young people with SEND in a mainstream setting Good understanding of a range of additional needs, including SEMH and Autism Spectrum Condition Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills Ability to work effectively as part of a team Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures Relevant qualifications or experience in SEND support In return, you will receive: Dedicated consultant support throughout your placement Access to CPD courses and specialist training through the My-Progression platform Competitive daily rates of pay A stable, valued role within an inclusive secondary school PAYE payment – no hidden fees or deductions Referral bonuses via the TeacherActive Referral Scheme (T&Cs apply) If you’re ready to support young people with SEND in a mainstream secondary school and help them succeed, apply today by emailing your CV to or calling (phone number removed).
