Job Description

We are seeking an empathetic, patient, and committed Teaching Assistant to join a highly regarded special school in the Braintree area. Key Responsibilities * Support pupils with a range of special educational needs (including PMLD, SLD, and Autism) * Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, accessible lessons * Provide one-to-one and small-group support tailored to individual learning needs * Use creative, sensory-based approaches to support engagement and communication * Help manage behaviour in a calm and positive way * Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff * Contribute to a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment Qualifications and Experience * Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND (desirable but not essential) * Patience, empathy, and adaptability when supporting pupils with complex needs * Strong communication and teamwork skills * Positive attitude and commitment to inclusive education * Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 TA or SEN training are advantageous * Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people SENDirect is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
