Job Description
Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Makaton Trained - Non-Verbal Support)
Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting for experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to support non-verbal students in a range of SEND schools across Sutton. These are full-time, long-term roles focused on enhancing communication and learning for children with complex communication needs.
The Role:
Provide 1:1 and small group support for non-verbal pupils, using Makaton to facilitate communication
Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to implement personalised communication strategies
Support students' development in communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
Help maintain an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that promotes independence and self-confidence

What You'll Need to Succeed:
Proven experience supporting non-verbal children or pupils with complex communication needs
Makaton training is essential
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Two recent references and the right to work in the UK
