About the Role:
You will be working alongside teaching staff and therapists to support students with a range of needs including physical disabilities, complex medical conditions, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored support to students with health, emotional, or behavioural challenges.
Assist pupils with mobility, personal care, and medical requirements as necessary.
Work closely with school nurses, therapists, and SEN professionals to implement care and support plans.
Help pupils engage with learning by creating a calm, safe, and nurturing environment.
Monitor wellbeing and alert appropriate staff of any concerns.
Promote independence, confidence, and emotional development in pupils.
Job Requirements:
Must have background in nursing or experience working as a nurse (including adult, children’s, or mental health nursing).
Experience working with children with SEN, ideally in a school or specialist setting.
A strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning difficulties.
Patience, resilience, and a caring nature to support students’ unique learning journeys.
Excellent communication skills to work effectively with staff, students, and parents.
Ability to adapt teaching strategies to suit individual learning needs.
A Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
