SEN Teaching Assistant (Primary) About the school We are working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Barnet that prides itself on its strong sense of community. The school is small enough to provide a secure, nurturing environment but large enough to offer rich and varied learning experiences. Staff here are passionate about providing outstanding academic and pastoral support to every pupil. The role This full-time role involves working one-to-one with a year 1 pupil who has autism, is selectively mute, and displays significantly dysregulated behaviour. The ideal candidate will be patient, calm, and resilient, with a strong understanding of autism and a proactive approach to behaviour management. Ideal candidate • A Level 2 or 3 teaching assistant qualification (or equivalent) • Proven experience working with children with ASD and complex needs • Strong communication and de-escalation skills • A nurturing and adaptable attitude • The ability to build trust and rapport with children who may find communication and routine challenging You’ll be joining a supportive and professional team who are deeply committed to making a difference.
