SEN Teaching Assistant (Reception)
About the role
Are you passionate about early childhood development and supporting children with additional needs? Do you have a nurturing, warm approach and thrive in a busy, creative learning environment? We’re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant, inclusive Reception class at a wonderful primary school in Barnet.
Starting this September, you’ll be joining a dynamic Early Years team consisting of two TAs and an experienced class teacher. Your primary focus will be supporting two delightful Reception pupils with autism as they begin their school journey. These children will need gentle, patient guidance, with support in phonics, early communication, and positive behaviour strategies. This is a brilliant opportunity to help shape their foundations in a calm, safe and joyful environment.
Our school is proud of its diverse, high-achieving and nurturing learning community. We have beautiful grounds, a Nature Reserve, and a warm, inclusive ethos where children are supported to become confident, independent learners.
This role would suit
*
Graduates seeking hands-on experience before training to teach or moving into child psychology, SEN support, or social work
*
Experienced EYFS or SEN TAs who are confident with autism and early learning
*
Individuals who are calm, encouraging, and responsive to children’s needs
What we’re looking for
*
Experience with EYFS or young children with SEN (autism experience preferred)
*
Phonics knowledge (Letters and Sounds or similar schemes)
*
Warm, patient approach to behaviour and emotional regulation
*
Strong communication and teamwork skills
*
A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn
Join a school where no two days are the same, where nature, play, and high expectations go hand in hand, and where your contribution will truly matter.
