Job Description

Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant – SEMH Support (Year 2) Location: Lewisham, London Start Date: ASAP Contract: Full-time, Temporary to Permanent Hours: Term-time only We are recruiting on behalf of a supportive primary school in Lewisham for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work with three pupils in Year 2 who present with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and challenging behaviour. This is a full-time position, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour. Implement tailored strategies to promote positive behaviour and engagement. Support pupils’ emotional regulation, resilience, and social development. Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals to deliver personalised learning. Help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment. Requirements: Proven experience supporting children with SEMH needs and/or challenging behaviour (essential). Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure. A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach. Full-time availability (term-time only).
