Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant - Theatre Specialist
Location: Tonbridge
Salary: £88.94 per day
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time
GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with experience in theatre or theatre education to join a vibrant and supportive SEN school based in Tonbridge. This is a unique opportunity to bring performance-based methods into the classroom and support students in building confidence, communication skills, and emotional awareness.
About the Role:
This SEN TA role will involve working with pupils who have a variety of complex learning needs. Your theatre background will play a central role in helping to deliver creative interventions, emotional support, and imaginative approaches to learning.
Responsibilities:
Support individual and small group learning with a creative, theatre-based approach.
Help students develop communication, social interaction, and self-expression through performance-based activities.
Assist teachers in planning and delivering creative learning sessions.
Contribute to a calm, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment.
Work closely with the SENCO and class teacher to tailor support strategies.
Monitor and report pupil progress and behaviour.
Encourage independence, confidence, and communication skills among students.
Job Requirements:
CACHE Level 2 or 3 or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistance or Childcare is highly desirable.
Must have a background in theatre teaching, performance, or drama education.
Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, or a similar support role in a classroom or school setting, is preferred.
Patience, adaptability and a genuine commitment to supporting students' growth.
Understanding of various Special Educational Needs conditions, including autism and ADHD etc.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
