Job Description
We are seeking a patient, skilled, and engaging Specialist Tutor to support a Year 11 student with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and dyscalculia. The role involves delivering tailored Maths and English tuition for 2 hours per week over a 6-week period.
About the Student
The young person is bright and capable but experiences challenges with:
Maintaining engagement during learning
Behavioural regulation
Processing mathematical concepts due to dyscalculia
We are looking for someone who can bring creativity, calmness, and adaptability to each session, helping her build confidence and skills in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver accessible, personalised Maths and English lessons
Use strategies appropriate for learners with ASD and dyscalculia
Support engagement through positive behaviour approaches
Provide brief progress updates after sessions
Build a trusting, consistent rapport with the student
Essential Criteria
Experience working with young people with ASD and/or additional learning needs
Strong subject knowledge in Maths and English at KS4 level
Ability to use differentiated, trauma-informed, or neurodiversity-affirming teaching approaches
Excellent communication skills and a calm, supportive mannerBefore You Apply
