Are you a passionate and experienced SEN Tutor looking to make a meaningful difference in a young person's life?
Prospero Teaching are seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Tutor to support a young learner who is currently transitioning into Year 7 and awaiting placement in a specialist school. This is a unique opportunity to provide personalised, home-based education and emotional support during a pivotal time.
About the Learner:
Diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Dyslexia
Has sensory needs and experiences anxiety when meeting new people
Working at age-related expectations in Maths
Working at Year 4 level in English
Interests include science experiments, cars, and maths problems
As an SEN Tutor you will:
Build a trusting relationship through gentle, consistent interaction
Deliver engaging sessions in Maths and English, tailored to the learner's current levels
Incorporate the learner's interests to foster motivation and enjoyment
Adapt teaching strategies to meet sensory and emotional needs
Provide a calm, reassuring presence to support the learner's transitionAbout you:
Experience working with children with ASD, Dyslexia, and sensory needs
Background in SEN education, tutoring, or therapeutic teaching
Patient, empathetic, and creative in approach
Able to commit to regular sessions at the learner's homePosition - SEN Tutor
Contract or position start date - ASAP
Contract or position end date (if applicable) - N/A
Full time/part-time - Opportunities for both
Hours - 10 Hours per week- for the right candidate, this can be increased to full time with additional tuition opportunities
Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools- ESSENTIAL
Experience of working with learners with SEN/SEMH needs
To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
Hold right to work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide references upon request
Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
