Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for a High Needs Tutor to join the Sheaf Training Centre on an initial 9-12 month temporary contract. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
The Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to work with young people aged 16–24 with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), supporting them in their journey towards greater independence and preparation for adulthood.
As a High Needs Tutor, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing engaging learning programmes for small groups (typically 6–14 learners). Your teaching will be creative, flexible, and tailored to individual needs, with a strong focus on progression in Maths, English, and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan, deliver, and evaluate high-quality, person-centred teaching and learning for post-16 learners with SEND.

Track, record, and assess learner progress effectively, ensuring targets are realistic, achievable, and aligned with EHCP outcomes.

Deliver engaging sessions that develop skills across the four key areas of Preparation for Adulthood:
*
Independence – daily living skills, confidence, and decision making.
*
Health, Wellbeing, and Belonging – personal safety, relationships, and community participation.
*
Education and Employment – supporting pathways into further learning, training, or work.
*
Aspirations and Foundations for Life – building resilience, personal goals, and long-term opportunities.
*
Embed Maths and English skills into the curriculum to support learners’ progression.
*
Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, carers, and external professionals to provide wraparound support for learners.
*
Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and achievements in line with organisational and statutory requirements.
*
Contribute to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
Essential Requirements
*
Recognised teaching qualification (or working towards).
*
Experience in planning, delivering, and assessing learning programmes for young people with SEND.
*
Strong knowledge of EHCP processes and preparation for adulthood outcomes.
*
Excellent communication and organisational skills
