We are looking for experienced and compassionate SEN tutors to provide 1:1 tuition to secondary-aged pupils who are currently out of school or receiving alternative provision. The focus will be on bridging gaps in learning and preparing learners for Functional Skills Level 1/2 or GCSEs in Maths, English, and occasionally Science, as per Local Authority requirements.
About the Role:
Deliver engaging, personalised tuition sessions in line with each pupil’s abilities and goals
Support young people who may be working below expected levels due to disrupted education
Build trust and engagement with pupils who may present with a range of SEN and additional needs, including:
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health)
Anxiety
Other learning difficulties or complex needs
Prepare learners for Functional Skills or GCSE exams, depending on pathway
Provide daily reports and attendance records to support multi-agency reviews and progress tracking
Essential Requirements:
Minimum 2 years' experience teaching or tutoring in the UK (Secondary level)
Strong knowledge of Maths and English (Science desirable)
Proven experience working with pupils with SEN, particularly autism, SEMH, and anxiety
Confident in delivering sessions in various settings: home, online, or school-based
Up-to-date Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service) and Safeguarding Training
Desirable:
Experience working with pupils not currently in formal education
Knowledge of EHCPs and supporting multi-agency planning
Experience with trauma-informed or therapeutic teaching approaches

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
