Job Description

SENCo – Immediate Start (SEMH Setting) Location: Newbury, Berkshire (commutable from Swindon, Oxford, Andover, Basingstoke and Reading) Salary: Up to £46,000 per annum (depending on experience) Hours: 40 hours per week | Term Time Only Contract: Full-time, temporary (until Christmas 2025) – with potential to extend or become permanent Start Date: As soon as possible About the Opportunity SEND Inclusion Support is working in partnership with a specialist independent school in Berkshire to recruit an experienced and motivated SENCo to join their leadership team. The role is available for an immediate start and will run at least until Christmas, with the potential to continue longer term or become permanent for the right candidate. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SENCo or aspiring SEN leader to play a pivotal role in ensuring that pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs receive the highest standard of educational and pastoral support. The successful candidate will join a dedicated and passionate team focused on providing a nurturing, inclusive learning environment that enables every pupil to thrive. Key Responsibilities As SENCo, you will: * Oversee the strategic development of the school’s SEND provision, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice. * Coordinate and monitor individual support plans, EHCPs, and provision mapping to ensure pupils receive tailored interventions. * Work closely with teaching staff to ensure effective differentiation and inclusive classroom practice across all subjects. * Lead on assessments, data analysis, and progress reviews for pupils with additional needs. * Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to promote a collaborative approach to pupil support. * Provide professional guidance, training, and support to staff to strengthen SEND understanding and inclusive teaching practices. * Contribute to whole-school safeguarding, wellbeing, and pastoral initiatives as part of the leadership team.
