Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

A dynamic, inclusive, and forward-looking secondary school in Wantage is seeking a qualified, experienced, and passionate SENCO to join its senior team from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated professional to lead and further develop the school’s well-established SEND provision in a setting where inclusion is not only a priority but a core value.
The school is known for its ambitious culture, warm relationships, and strong outcomes for students across all groups. With a growing cohort of students with a range of additional needs including ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH challenges, the school is now looking for an exceptional SENCO to lead the next phase of strategic development in special educational needs and inclusive teaching.
You will be responsible for shaping whole-school SEND strategy, coordinating support across year groups, managing EHCP processes, leading a team of experienced teaching assistants, and working closely with families, external agencies, and the wider pastoral network. You will be a visible and active presence within the school, working closely with subject staff to ensure that inclusive classroom practice is fully embedded.
The school will support your development through access to national networks, CPD, and leadership training. For candidates who have not yet achieved the NASENCO qualification, the school may be willing to support this alongside the role.
What makes this SENCO role stand out:
*
A genuinely inclusive ethos that values student voice, diverse learning needs, and restorative practice.
*
A leadership team that prioritises SEND as a whole-school responsibility, not an add-on.
*
Strong working relationships with local authorities, specialists, and health professionals.
This is a rewarding and impactful leadership role, ideally suited to a qualified SENCO or experienced teacher with a deep understanding of additional needs, a collaborative leadership style, and a commitment to improving outcomes for every learner.
If you’re ready to lead SEND provision in a school where inclusion is lived, not just spoken, this opportunity in Wantage could be the ideal next step in your career
