The Role:
* Lead and manage the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision across the school, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and other relevant legislation.
* Play a pivotal role in identifying and assessing students with special educational needs, developing and implementing highly effective support plans (including EHCPs) that cater to individual student requirements.
* Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external agencies (e.g., educational psychologists, speech and language therapists) to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive approach to student support.
* Provide expert guidance and training to teaching staff on effective strategies for supporting students with a wide range of SEND, promoting inclusive classroom practices.
* Oversee the deployment and professional development of teaching assistants and other support staff, ensuring they are well-equipped to meet student needs.
* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND interventions and provisions, using data to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement in student outcomes.
The Ideal Candidate:
* An experienced and qualified SENCO (National Award for SEN Coordination or willingness to obtain it) with demonstrable leadership experience in a secondary school setting.
* Possesses extensive knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and a deep understanding of best practices in supporting students with a diverse range of special educational needs.
* Committed to inclusive education and student-centred approaches, with a genuine passion for advocating for and empowering students with SEND.
* Able to inspire, lead, and motivate a team, fostering a collaborative and highly effective environment for SEND provision.
* Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build strong relationships with students, parents, staff, and external professionals.
* Willing to engage fully and enthusiastically in the wider life of the school community, embracing opportunities to contribute to its vibrant ethos and values.
* Hold an Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain one) and be able to provide two satisfactory professional references.
