Are you an experienced and passionate SENCO looking to make a real impact in a new, therapeutic education setting? Academics Bristol is seeking a committed SENCO to join the founding team at a SEN school that is preparing to open in November 2025.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of the leadership and development of a school from the very beginning - helping to build inclusive, supportive, and trauma-informed education for children and young people with complex needs.
Location: North Somerset (BS40)
Salary: £30,198 - £36,105 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract type: Full-time, Permanent
Start date: November 2025
Pupil age range: 6-18 years
About the SENCO role
Take the lead in planning and delivering tailored educational frameworks for learners aged 6 to 18 with a range of special educational needs
Work within a trauma-informed practice model, ensuring therapeutic approaches are embedded into every aspect of school life
Support pupils with complex profiles including autism, SEMH, communication difficulties, and attachment needs
Build strong working relationships with staff, families, and external agencies
Promote inclusive teaching and learning and ensure all learners are fully supported to achieve their potential
Help shape the SEN strategy and support a school-wide culture of high expectations and individualised supportThis is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same, and where your work will make a lasting difference to children who need stability, understanding, and belief.
What We're Looking For
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or NQTS)
SENCO qualification
Minimum of 2 years' experience teaching pupils with SEN
