SENCO/ Safeguarding Lead   📍 Location: Failsworth (M35) 🗓 Start Date: Immediate / ASAP 💷 Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience 📄 Contract: Permanent, Full-Time   About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and passionate Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to lead inclusion and SEND provision in a mainstream secondary school in Failsworth (M35). This is an exciting leadership opportunity for someone committed to ensuring every young person—whatever their starting point—can achieve and thrive in a supportive, inclusive environment.   Key Responsibilities As SENCO, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the school’s inclusive ethos. Your responsibilities will include: Leading and managing SEND provision across the school in line with the SEND Code of Practice Coordinating support for pupils with additional needs, ensuring high-quality classroom teaching and targeted interventions Supporting teachers to adapt lessons and implement strategies that promote accessibility and progress for all learners Managing EHCPs, statutory reviews, and liaising with the Local Authority Building positive relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure joined-up support Leading the SEND team, including Teaching Assistants, and delivering training for staff on inclusive practice Monitoring progress of pupils with SEND and using data to drive effective support strategies. Who We’re Looking For We’d love to hear from you if you have: QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) The National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO), or a commitment to complete it Experience supporting pupils with SEND in a mainstream/specialist school Excellent knowledge of SEND legislation, policy, and inclusive classroom practice Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire colleagues and champion best practice A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people  About the School: A diverse and inclusive secondary school serving the Failsworth community Supportive leadership team who prioritise SEND and staff development Friendly and collaborative staff cultureOfsted-rated ‘Good’: “Pupils feel happy and safe in school.
