SEND Teaching Assistant - North Manchester

At Aspire People, we are looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join one of our partner schools in North Manchester. If you have experience working with students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, including supporting children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Speech and Language Needs (SEN), Dyslexia, ADHD, and Global Delay, this could be the perfect role for you!
We're seeking someone with a compassionate and patient approach to help students access the curriculum and thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Whether you've worked with students in one-to-one settings or within a group, we need a skilled and flexible professional who is ready to support a wide range of SEND needs across all key stages, from Early Years through to Key Stage 2.
What We're Looking For:
* Experience supporting students with a variety of SEND needs such as ASD, Dyslexia, ADHD, Speech & Language delays, and behavioural challenges.
* Experience working one-to-one with students who need additional support to access the curriculum.
* Familiarity with strategies for differentiation, creating individual learning plans (ILPs), and behaviour management techniques.
* A flexible, proactive attitude and the ability to adapt support to the needs of individual students.
* Strong communication skills for collaborating with teachers, parents, and external specialists.
* An Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
* A commitment to supporting inclusive education and helping children of all abilities succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with specific SEND needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively. This may include using specialised strategies like visual aids, social stories, or speech therapy interventions.
* Use behaviour management techniques such as positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies to help students regulate their emotions and behaviour in the classroom.
* Collaborate with class teachers to adapt lesson plans, providing differentiation and ensuring activities are inclusive for all students.
* Track and monitor student progress, adjusting support strategies where needed and ensuring individual learning goals are met.
* Encourage students' personal and social development, building confidence, independence, and resilience, particularly in students who experience social and emotional difficulties.
