SEND Support Assistant – Complex Needs
About the Role
We are seeking experienced and compassionate SEND Support Assistants to join a dedicated team at a specialist school in Chester, supporting children with a range of complex needs including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children who require tailored support to thrive in their education and development.
Key Responsibilities
*
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with complex SEND
*
Assist with personal care, sensory integration, and mobility needs where required
*
Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies
*
Use specialist communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC devices
*
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure holistic support
Requirements
*
Essential: Experience working with children with complex SEND (PMLD, ASD, ADHD)
*
Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
*
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
*
Patience, resilience, and a nurturing approach
*
Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant Diploma) are desirable
