Teaching Assistants – Special Needs (Complex Needs)

ICTalent Recruitment is proud to be supporting a specialist SEND school in Peterborough in their search for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025.
This is a full time opportunity to work in a nurturing and rewarding environment, supporting children with complex needs.
About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with class teachers and the wider support team to assist pupils aged between 4-18 who have a wide range of complex needs, including:
* Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
* Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
* Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
* Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
* Social, Emotional and Mental Health challenges (SEMH)
* Sensory impairments and physical disabilities
You will play a key role in delivering tailored learning support, helping pupils access the curriculum, develop life skills, and build positive relationships in a safe and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supporting individual and small groups of pupils throughout the day
* Working closely with teachers and therapists to implement individual learning plans (EHCPs)
* Promoting pupil independence and well being
* Assisting with personal care, mobility, and mealtime support where required
* Maintaining a calm, positive, and safe classroom environment
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs
* A calm, patient and resilient attitude
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* A willingness to engage in training and development
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) are desirable but not essential
