Learning Support Assistant - Specialist SEND School

About the Role
Monarch Education is recruiting a compassionate and committed Learning Support Assistant to work within a specialist SEND school supporting children and young people.
This rewarding role involves working with pupils who have a range of complex learning difficulties, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), communication needs, sensory processing needs, physical disabilities, and associated medical needs. You will support students to access learning, develop independence, and achieve their individual targets in a nurturing and highly supportive environment.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping pupils build confidence, develop essential life skills, and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with complex additional needs.
Support students with learning, communication and social development.
Assist in the delivery of personalised learning activities and therapeutic interventions.
Encourage independence, confidence and participation throughout the school day.
Support pupils with sensory, emotional and behavioural needs.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other support staff.
Support pupils with personal care where required.
Promote a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
Essential Requirements
Experience working with children or young people with SEND or additional needs.
Understanding of Autism, complex learning difficulties or communication needs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A patient, caring and resilient approach.
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Experience
Previous experience within a specialist SEND school.
Experience supporting pupils with Autism, PMLD, SLD or complex needs.
Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, sensory integration or alternative communication methods.
Experience providing personal care support.
