Job Description

Teacher (All Subjects) – SEND Specialist

Edgewood Academy, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent
Full-Time | Term Time Only - This Role is Paid to Scale
Start Date: September 2026

Edgewood Academy is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher to deliver engaging, high-quality teaching across a range of subjects within a specialist SEND setting. This role is ideal for a Teacher who is committed to inclusive education and supporting learners with additional needs, including SEND and EHCPs, within a nurturing and structured environment.

The successful Teacher will play a key role in raising achievement, removing barriers to learning, and ensuring every student is supported to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  * Plan and deliver engaging lessons across multiple subjects in line with the curriculum

  * Adapt teaching to meet the diverse needs of learners with SEND

  * Implement personalised learning strategies, including EHCP targets

  * Assess, track, and report on student progress

  * Create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment

  * Work closely with the SENDCo and wider team to support individual needs

  * Promote positive behaviour and high expectations for all learners

  * Use digital technology to enhance teaching and learning

  * Build strong relationships with students, parents, carers, and external agencies

  * Collaborate with colleagues to improve outcomes across the academy

Requirements:

  * Teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent)

  * Experience or strong understanding of SEND education

  * Ability to teach across a range of subjects or willingness to work flexibly

  * Commitment to inclusive practice and differentiated teaching

  * Strong communication and teamwork skills

  * Confidence using or willingness to develop digital learning tools
