SEND Teaching Assistant - ADHD & SEMH Support Primary School - Denton, Tameside Empowering Learning Empowering Learning is recruiting an experienced and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to support two pupils with ADHD tendencies and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs in a primary school in Denton, Tameside. This is a highly rewarding but challenging role that requires patience, emotional resilience and the ability to build trust with children who may be harder to reach. About the role: You will be working closely with two pupils who present daily behavioural and emotional challenges. The successful candidate will need to form strong, positive and consistent relationships, using a calm and nurturing approach at all times. You will support both pupils in managing their emotions, regulating their behaviour, and accessing learning throughout the school day. Key responsibilities: Providing 1:1 support to pupils with ADHD and SEMH needs Using tailored, non-confrontational strategies to de-escalate and re-engage pupils Building trust through consistent, nurturing and relationship-focused support Supporting pupils who may not respond to typical classroom strategies Working collaboratively with class teachers, the SENCO and pastoral teams Helping pupils develop emotional regulation, confidence and independence Ensuring a safe, structured and supportive learning environment We are looking for someone who: Has strong experience supporting children or young people with ADHD, SEMH or behavioural needs Has worked in settings where pupils present high levels of challenge Remains calm, patient and solution-focused under pressure Can build rapport quickly and maintain consistent boundaries Shows resilience, empathy and a genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable pupils Holds a standard TA qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) What we offer: A rewarding and impactful role making a real difference Support from a dedicated consultant who understands the needs of the school Opportunities for ongoing CPD and career development Empowering Learning offers competitive hourly rates, professional support, and opportunities for CPD.
