We're looking for a kind, confident and supportive SEND Teaching Assistant to join a warm and inclusive primary school in Small Heath. You'll be part of their dedicated KS2 Resource Base, supporting pupils with Autism (ASD), non-verbal or pre-verbal communication needs, SEMH challenges and EHCPs.
If you enjoy building meaningful relationships and helping children develop confidence, communication and independence, this could be the perfect role for you.
Your Day-to-Day:
Work 1:1 and in small groups with KS2 pupils who need extra support with communication, behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
Use visuals, clear routines and hands-on activities to help pupils understand, engage and enjoy learning.
Support children who are non-verbal or have limited communication, using creative strategies that help them express themselves.
Help implement and support EHCP targets and adapt learning tasks to suit each child's individual needs.
Provide consistent encouragement, reassurance and structure to help pupils feel safe and ready to learn.
Collaborate closely with the teacher, SENCo and pastoral staff to create a positive, nurturing environment.
Celebrate progress whether it's a new word, a calmer transition or a task completed with confidence.About You:
Experience supporting pupils with ASD, communication needs or SEMH.
Confident supporting children who may be non-verbal or have additional communication barriers.
Comfortable using de-escalation or behaviour support techniques such as Team Teach.
A strong communicator who works well as part of a supportive team.
A Level 2/3 TA or SEND qualification is helpful but not essential, the right experience matters most.What's in it for you?
