Prospero Teaching is currently recruiting for Specialist SEND Teaching Assistants to work within Secondary SEND Resource Bases (HUBs) and Specialist Provisions across Walsall and the surrounding areas.
About the Role
These roles involve supporting secondary students with a range of complex needs, including Autism, SEMH, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Speech & Language Difficulties, and Sensory Processing Needs. Working as part of a dedicated SEND team, you will help students access learning, develop social and emotional skills, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally. We have a range of opportunities available, including long-term, short-term, and daily supply assignments, making these roles ideal for experienced SEND professionals or individuals looking to further develop their experience within specialist education settings.
Key Responsibilities
Support students with EHCPs on a 1:1 basis and within small group settings
Assist students in accessing a modified and differentiated curriculum
Implement SEND-specific strategies and interventions, including visual supports, sensory regulation techniques, and communication tools
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and external professionals
Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development
Promote independence, resilience, and preparation for adulthood
Encourage positive engagement, attendance, and participation in school life
Ideal Candidate Will Have
Previous experience supporting young people with Autism, SEMH, Speech & Language Needs, or other complex SEND requirements
Experience working within a school, SEND, care, youth work, or support setting
Familiarity with behaviour support strategies and SEND interventions
A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A relevant qualification (Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, Health & Social Care, Psychology, or equivalent) is desirable
Requirements to Work with Prospero Teaching
Hold Right to Work in the UK
Hold a valid enhanced child barred list DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one)
Provide two child-related professional references covering the last two years
